When did you start and what makes you started?

I started shooting actively on my birthday in 2012. I had a Canon 1000D since 2010 but wasn’t really into it. I guess i just got bored one day and decided to do something different on my birthday and i got quite an amazing sunrise sky!

Where does your Inspiration comes from?

I simple check out good locations and verify if the sun is in the correct direction.

What is your best achievement?

Erm, none! Haha. I entered my works for International Photography Award competition for the past few days and only got Honourable Mention.

Which is your personal favourite?

I dont have a personal favourite, to be honest. I don’t feel satisfied by my works.

Who inspires you?

Various. Actually, I scroll around facebook and instagram for inspiration. I follow Elia Locardi, Michael Shainblum and a few others. There are also many inspiring Instagram shooters and i can’t name all without leaving out some really good ones!

Advice for aspiring artist?

Shoot more, watch tutorials and experiment. Have a firm belief and style while adapting new methods to suit your way of shooting.

Top 5 Ways to Make Money as a Photographer!

Practically everyone these days have atleast one camera and the popularity of photography has been largely driven by social media and many new ways of sharing pictures. With sites like Twitter and photo-sharing apps such as Flickr and Instagram, special moments are easily caught as they unfold and shared almost instantly. These also means every single person can be a “self-proclaimed” Photographer as well as making money out of it. “Photographer” used to be a Professional career, however due to the development of the technology. Almost everyone can be one “professional”, good or bad is pretty much subjective to comment.

If you plan to take Photography to the next level, you may try these few things to make it work profitably:

It is often heard that, your friend asked a non-professional Photography hobbyist friend to take photos for their wedding or other photoshoots. That also means, it is much easier to get photo projects as a freelancer even if you’re not professional or have any related portfolios.

As a professional photographer, it is much easier to hear your client found another Photographer who is cheaper than you and still is a “photographer”. It’s all about the Price war inbetween, however there are still people appreciates quality. We advice you to keep your rates to the market rate, at the same time giving good results to your client. No matter if it’s a wedding photoshoot, children / family photoshoot or etc.

1. Photoshoot for People

And, ofcourse that is not the only way to get your money in your pocket! What you can do next? Have you heard of blogging?

2. Photo-Blogging for Businesses
Making money through blogging may sound cliche at times. It is one of the more popular yet difficult method to earn but if you set your standards blends in Photography as part of your blog style, you may get some eyeballs rolling and able to earn some bucks out of it.

3.  Be a Social Influencer!

Have many awesome and nice photos taken by yourself? Post it on Instagram, hashtag almost whatever that links up to what you do as well as photography. Get people to watch you! And there may be people who popby to ask you to take some photos and advertise their businesses’ products for them.

Right now, there are Photographers on social media platforms who are getting paid to create images for the sole purpose of sharing them with their social media audience. Catch the trend before it’s far gone!

4.  Patreon by your Fans
Have many Fans and lovers of your Photography? Sign up www.patreon.com and get your Fans to fund you. With less focus on dollars, you’ll just need to spend more time on creating more awesome Photoworks!

5.  Sell Stock Photos online
Pick your best photos and turn them into cash by selling them on microstock websites.
The term “microstock” refers to the micropayments the sites charge customers for those images — payments passed on to the photographers who took them. Most sites start their image pricing at just a dollar for the smallest size, with costs increasing with image sizes.

Microstock sites, such as istockphoto.com orshutterstock.com, make it easy for hobbyist and amateurs with a passion for photography to get started selling their photos online.

10 Things that makes a Photographer a ‘Professional’

The term professional is thrown around quite a bit these days, perhaps too much. There used to be “Real” Professional Photographers around who charge Professionally for their services as well as doing their job professional. In recent years, we’ve heard many stories about some “self-proclaimed” Professional Photographers destroyed their client’s Photoshoot. Nowadays, everyone else who holds a DSLR prefer to do it themselves, partly it’s really difficult to see which Photography Service Provider are truly Professional.

But what exactly does it mean to be a professional? As you read through the items below, consider how you compare with each trait.

1: Put customer satisfaction first

Understanding and satisfying customer’s needs is one of the aspect of a successful business. We all know some friends who are freelance Photographer who loves shooting for their own Portfolio without considering the fact that it is a service to the customer. After all, without the customer, there is no professional.

Professionals identify and satisfy their customer’s needs.

2: Expertise a specialty

The very word professional implies that you are an expert. Technical competence is essential in Photography, as well as Creativity skillset.

  • Become an expert in the skills and equipment necessary to do your job.
  • Always perform to the best of your abilities.
  • Keep knowledge up to date.

Professionals know their trade.

3: Do more than expected

Professionals are given wide latitude in daily self-management. Professionals don’t abuse privileges, manages time and work habit well.

Professionals are expected to produce results. Strive to complete deliverables before their due dates and under budget. Professionals meet or exceed expectations whenever possible.

4: Do what has been promised

Professionals says what they can do only. And not being a salesman, trying to sell things or package that won’t be able to delivered.

Professionals deliver on promises made.

5: Communicate effectively

Effective communication is ultimately your responsibility — not your customer’s. Whether verbal or written, professionals communicate clearly, concisely, thoroughly, and accurately.

Professionals don’t create misunderstanding, neither blame misconception on customer.

6: Follow exceptional guiding principles

Appreciate and support people around, either same trade or customers. Practice good manners and proper etiquette. Have high ethical and moral standards. Be honest and fair in all of your dealings with others. Obey the law. These are basic values that all professionals should follow. Many companies have a document that outlines their operating principles, or Standard of Procedure.

Professionals adhere to high values and principles.

7: Praise others

Respect and acknowledge the talents of the people around you. There is nothing more unprofessional and self-serving than telling others how wonderful you are. Professionals are humble and generous in their praise of others.

8: Share knowledge

It is not easy to find talented photographers with “unique” knowledge, it’s even harder to find the ones who are willing to share in Singapore. It is possible to share what you know and still keep one step ahead of the competition — simply apply yourself and learn something new daily.

Professionals help people around and are respected for doing so.

9: Say thank you

Always try to find a way to thank others for their help. Not everything you did good is your credits, thank others for what has made your day better.

Professionals thank others in a meaningful way that most benefits the recipient.

10: Keep a smile on the face and with the right attitude in the heart

Professionals are pleasant even during hard times.
